Rev. Fr. Gabriel Gerardo Kamus

In rare occasions when the Brothers get to congregate with the alumni, together with their loved ones and the people from the distant past as they take a trip down memory lane, chances are the De La Salle Lipa community has finally found its next rightful recipient of the Gawad Alumni or the Blessed Brother Arnould Reche FSC Distinguished Alumni Award.

On the eve of August 26, 2015, an intimate affair took place for the special awarding ceremony at the Board Room, Sen. Jose Diokno Hall to formally bestow the award to an alumnus from High School Batch 1983 who took the time to receive the title despite his brief visit to the country and his very busy schedule.

Currently on his second term as the Council General of the Oblates of Saint Joseph General Curia in Rome, Italy, in-charge of the lay movement of the whole congregation, the 2015 awardee is Rev. Fr. Gabriel Gerardo Masilungan Kamus.

Alumnus, Fr. Gabriel, could not contain the overwhelming joy he exuded during the ceremony as he made sure to thank, not only his Lasallian family, but likewise, his Oblates of St. Joseph congregation, too.

He could attest that he had enjoyed and benefited from both worlds, and even related to the case of the founder, St. John Baptist De La Salle, who happened to be the only priest in their ministry.

He also thanked his family, especially his mother, 88 years old, who witnessed the event - the occasion that he will surely treasure, and the award that will constantly remain precious to him.
