HS Batch '64 Pres Special Award

De La Salle Lipa's select administrators gathered with the alumni and guests on July 15, 2016 at the Diokno Auditorium to grant deserving alumni with a prominent recognition based on the "evidence of a broad, significant and far-reaching impact in the community, province, region, nation or international community by witnessing to the Lasallian ideals of faith, service and community; professional or personal activities to enhance individual competencies since graduation from DLSL, or in the case of the first batch in 1963, the Our Lady of the Rosary Academy; and there should be an evidence of integrity and competence and lives to foster patriotism, justice and sound normal and Lasallian values."

The story behind the title - Blessed Brother Arnould Reche FSC - was the main topic in the remarks given by the Chief Strategy and Advancement Officer, Arnold Capuloy, after the heartfelt greetings to the attendees. His explanation underscored the sacrifices and sanctity of the Blessed Brother which was substantiated by his own anecdotes after visiting the grave several times of the soon-to-be saint.

Subsequently, this title was bestowed upon four rightful awardees in three different categories, handed by the DLSL representatives, Dr. Alicia Botardo, Vice Chancellor for Academics and Research, and Mayolisa Mantuano, Integrated School Principal.

For the first time in history of the Gawad Alumni, a group, particularly, the High School Batch 1964 was granted the recognition through the President's Special Award. The batch, represented by Lito Abad, Rick Leyesa and Raul Vizconde, who gave a poignant speech, were on hand to accept the award. Since 2003, the group has started their scholarship grant named after their mentor, Br. Stephen Rabisa FSC Gift of Education. To date, 90 students have benefited from their endowment, and their graduates are gainfully employed.

Previous awardees, Dr. Roberto Magsino of Mary Mediatrix Medical Center and Roger Basco of DLSL were present to congratulate the new recipients of the Gawad Alumni.
